If you’ve read any of my posts yet you may have noticed that we have taken a recent and major interest in fondue. Many visits to my new favourite restaurant and we finally decided to buy our very own fondue set! It was such an exciting day and we really wanted to take on the world with this new kit but we decided to hold back for now. We decided to just try cheese and chocolate for the first round, and they both turned out great!
We basically copied what the restaurant does and prepared our own dippers and made a delicious cheese concoction. We melted velveeta with shredded old cheddar cheese and half a bottle of Canadian. We mixed in salsa and some chili powder to spice it up a bit. We served it with granny smith apple chunks, raw veggies, bread, and nachos. So easy, and so tasty!
We found our fondue set for about $25 at Walmart and it was a great purchase. If you don’t want to go out and buy a set, you could easily cook the fondue stove top using a pot of simmer water with a heatproof dish sitting on top of it. Don’t try that exactly, definitely google it before you attempt it.
For dessert we actually found fondue chocolate in the baking aisle, accompanied with a can of evaporated milk, and some peanut butter chipits to kick it up a notch, and we had the perfect dipping chocolate. I quickly put together a plate of bananas, strawberries, chocolate chip cookies, and the “slutty brownies” I had made the day before (see previous post).
Perfect Saturday evening staying in with my babe!
